The new Design-Build 300,000 sq. ft. Central Terminal B Airside Concourse consists of a 19-gate passenger concourse with an international arrivals facility. The scope of the work for the new Concourse includes office space for building and airline support services in addition to a new taxiway and apron, tug tunnel and Automated People Mover guideway structure.
The project included a curved stainless steel roof, with a combination of exposed structural steel and wood ceilings, stainless steel column covers, terrazzo floors, and clerestory windows for day lighting.
The Sacramento International Airport Terminal project is LEED-NC Silver Certified. Sustainable building practices were a top priority for the project. The sustainable features incorporated into the design include an abundance of natural lighting, which included shading and reflection features to control the heat. Also, multiple recycled materials were utilized including steel, flooring from recycled building materials, and additional salvaged materials from area demolition.
